We also discussed some issues relevant to our community. George Myers (our city Councilman) gave us an update about several projects the city has approved in our area, including a community center and improvements to neighborhood parks. These are some exciting projects that will definitely improve our "corner" of the city. For details, check out George's website. Thanks George!
Since our sitting president moved away, we also addressed the issue of needing to find a replacement! I was nominated to fill the post, Janice Fisher was the seconder to the motion, and I happily accepted. I'm looking forward to working with the rest of the neighborhood board and our neighbors to plan our projects and events for 2008.
Bill Fisher was kind enough to investigate our leaky water spigot at the main entrance. We've turned it off for the winter, but we will need a plumber to look at it before the spring and find out what the real issue is. We will also investigate ways to prevent vandalism at the spigots - don't these kids have video games to play or something?
Lastly, we discussed the parking situation on Narrow lane; specifically the fact that when cars are parked on both side of the street, a fire truck or ambulance could not get through. We will consult with the fire chief and the department of public safety to determine the best solution. Currently, if that situation were to present itself, the fire truck would have to ram any vehicles in its way. While the fire department is authorized to do this, we clearly need a better solution.
Other notes from the meeting include:
- Our Rob & Ann will hang our wreaths out front next week
- George announced that several other neighborhood associations are having a combined community pot luck. Once we know the date, we will post it here
- We will once again be having a holiday decoration contest with prizes awarded to the winners. Details on dates and judging criteria will be posted here
